– Welcome to the Cold War! We’ll take a look at how the US goes from being
    allies with the Soviet Union in 1945 to bitter enemies the following year. We will see
    how this “Cold War” leads to the creation of many anti-communist 
    programs and the effects of this clash between the two superpowers.
- HW: read 38A1-B2, D1-D2, D6-D7
- HW: You should definitely start working on your cultural project research!


April 22-26 (week 33)
Monday 4/22 - Tuesday 4/23
- Wednesday-Monday switch for Earth Day
- introduce Cultural Project
- From Korea to the Cold War at Home: We’ll take a look at the first armed
   conflict of the Cold War in which the US is directly involved. We’ll also see the
   development of containment in Latin America and the Middle East and the policies of
   nuclear proliferation and massive retaliation. The Cold War also affected the US at
   home. We will see how paranoia and fear threatened to tear America apart at the seams.
- HW: meet w/ your cultural group to divide-up the topics

- Welcome to Camelot (where we all eat SPAM-a lot) 1960 brings the election of
a new type of President and the hope of a new America. We’ll see if Kennedy’s Camelot was really all it was cracked up to be and we’ll see how LBJ was really one of the greatest presidents (or was he?).
